I have the PlayOn! HD 1tb device. As Arne says the latest firmware IS stable.at least for me. But what still makes it a complete waste of time in a family home is the total lack of actually being a GUIYou still have to click through several menus to get to your movies.no videowall like Mede8er.which begs the question and surprises me with Arne's statement about future releases having this function when Realtek provide them.is that Mmede8er are ALREADY doing this with the videowall on SDK3. ACRyan have never provided this obvious and essential feature.mede8er have.so blaming realtek can't be correct.There is something seriously weird with ACRyan.why can't they produce a proper GUI that is as slick and fast as the Mede8er's?
They have the same chip sets etc so it baffles me. Other than to surmise that ACRyan's development team is the canteen ladySo I've dumped the latest firmware and I am running the Shizzl firmware and its great and its only SDK3.apart from audio lag at the beginning of a song but that should be fixed with the SDK4 hack when it comes out.this was fixed in the ACRyan SDK4 release but as I say the rest is still pants.ACRyan should understand that people are not running the Mede8er firmware because they are 'modders' its because its far superior that their own.yet, again, they are essentially the same box.go figure. As soon as you release a GUI that allows me to access my videos and audio files in a simple 1/2 clicks I will be happy. The problem for me is the front end interface. Its still far to complicated, clumsy and non intuitive. As I say if Mede8er can write their own GUI I am still surprised that ACRyan don't. Their videowall is one, very good, solution to easy access to my files.
I'm sure your guys can write something that makes the user experience easy. My wife simply refused to use the Play!On as she expects to turn it on, be presented with a list of movies, music etc and click on that and away she goes. They appear to do nothing at the moment and 'you' have to go into the File directory. Even the PS3 has a nice menu selection interface that is easy to follow.I'm not decrying the network and other technical bugs that are being sorted out but I feel that a big focus should be on writing a user friendly, jazzy GUI.
